Allison Turbine Jet Bike
This thing is, well, brutish.
It’s a completely custom-built Allison turbine powered jet cruiser.
Featuring hand-crafted bodywork, carbon fiber wheels, six-piston ceramic brakes, fully programmable computer fuel management and instrumentation and extensive use of billet aluminum, it’s only logged 21 hours of riding time since new.
Perhaps most interesting to those of use who have a craven need for speed, it boasts a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 317 bhp against a slight 582 pounds total weight. I believe, and I’m no expert on such things, it means this machine would move out at speeds approaching the horrific…
Christian Travert, builder of The Daytona Boss seen above, has a motorcycle-building background which speaks for itself. The engineering genius and bike builder extraordinaire – based in Florida – is the man responsible for the engineering and building of the outrageous 250mph ‘Y2K’ jet turbine-powered bike. That bike is still regarded as the fastest, street legal, production motorcycle in the world, so he’s been there and done that before.
Travert also built this, the “Daytona Boss”, and it’s also powered by a jet engine. The bike was commissioned by the owner of the world’s largest Harley Davidson dealership, owner Bruce Rossmeyer. Something struck Christian about the futuristic design and he found himself beginning to apply his engineering know-how to some of the problems posed by the design.
